Wilentin — Trientine 250 mg (100 Capsules)

Wilentin 250 mg is prescribed by geneticists, hepatologists, and neurologists for:

• 🔹 Wilson's Disease: Treatment of a hereditary disorder involving copper accumulation in the body in patients intolerant to penicillamine.
• 🔹 Maintenance Therapy: Long-term control of copper levels in the body to prevent recurrence of liver and central nervous system damage symptoms.

Sales Form: 1 pack contains 100 hard capsules of 250 mg.

⚠️ INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

• Administration: Take strictly on an empty stomach — at least 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.
• Dosage: The dose is selected individually based on copper levels in urine and blood serum. Usually, the daily dose is divided into 2–4 intakes.
• Method: The capsule should be swallowed whole with water only. Do not chew or open the capsule.
• Interactions: Do not take simultaneously with iron supplements or antacids. There should be an interval of at least 2 hours between their intake.
• Storage: Store in a tightly closed container in the refrigerator (at 2°C–8°C). Brief exposure to room temperature is acceptable, but overheating should be avoided.

• ⛔ Allergic Reactions: Hypersensitivity to trientine or any of the inactive components of the drug.
• ⛔ Pregnancy and Lactation: Used only in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus. Strict medical supervision is required.
• ⛔ Special Instructions: Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus require extremely careful monitoring.

The following side effects may occur when using Wilentin and require medical attention:

• 🩸 Iron Deficiency: Trientine can bind iron, which sometimes leads to the development of anemia (short-term iron supplementation may be required, but separately from Wilentin).
• 🤢 Digestion: Heartburn, abdominal pain, nausea, sometimes diarrhea.
• 🧴 Skin Reactions: Skin rash, itching.
• 🧠 Neurology: In rare cases, a temporary worsening of neurological symptoms (dystonia, tremor) may occur at the beginning of therapy.
• ⚠️ Important: During trientine treatment, regular tests are necessary to monitor bone marrow function and blood ferritin levels.
