Valgahet Tablets — Valganciclovir 450 mg (60 Tablets) Heet

Valgahet is prescribed by an infectious disease specialist or a transplant surgeon in the following cases:

• 🔹 CMV Retinitis: Treatment of cytomegalovirus retinitis (damage to the retina) in patients with AIDS.
• 🔹 Post-Transplant Prevention: Prevention of CMV disease in patients after solid organ transplantation (kidney, heart, pancreas) who are at risk.

Sales Form: 1 bottle containing 60 tablets of 450 mg valganciclovir.

⚠️ INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

• Dosage Regimen: For active treatment (induction), the usual dose is 900 mg (2 tablets) twice daily for 21 days. For prevention or maintenance therapy — 900 mg (2 tablets) once daily.
• Method of Administration: Tablets should be taken orally with food. This significantly improves the absorption of the drug.
• Important: Tablets must not be broken or crushed. Since valganciclovir has potential teratogenic and carcinogenic effects, avoid skin or mucosal contact with the powder from damaged tablets.
• Renal Function: Patients with impaired renal function require mandatory dose adjustment by a physician.

• ⛔ Pregnancy and Lactation: The drug has pronounced teratogenic effects. Categorically contraindicated for pregnant women. Men and women must use reliable methods of contraception during and for 90 days after treatment.
• ⛔ Blood Counts: Treatment should not be started if the level of neutrophils (less than 500/µl), platelets (less than 25,000/µl), or hemoglobin (below 80 g/l) is critically low.
• ⛔ Pediatric Use: Contraindicated for children under a certain age/weight (except for specific post-transplant prevention protocols in children).
• Hypersensitivity to valganciclovir, ganciclovir, or acyclovir.

Taking Valgahet requires regular monitoring of blood counts. Possible effects:

• 🧪 Hematology (most common): Neutropenia (low white blood cells), anemia, thrombocytopenia. Regular complete blood counts are necessary.
• 🤢 GI Tract: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
• 🌡️ General: Fever, chills, increased fatigue.
• 🧠 Neurology: Headache, insomnia, in rare cases — tremors or confusion.
• 🍄 Infections: Risk of secondary infections (e.g., oral candidiasis) due to suppressed immunity.
