Thalix-100 is an immunomodulatory agent containing Thalidomide (100 mg).

Mechanism of Action:
Thalidomide exerts its anti-cancer effect by inhibiting angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels that feed tumors). It essentially starves the cancer cells. It also modulates the immune system to attack myeloma cells.
✅ Primary Use: A cornerstone therapy for Multiple Myeloma.
Indicated for:
- Multiple Myeloma (MM): Specifically for newly diagnosed patients (often combined with dexamethasone) or relapsed cases.
- Erythema Nodosum Leprosum (ENL): Severe skin complications associated with leprosy.
Strength: 100 mg capsule.
⚠️ ADMINISTRATION GUIDE:
- 😴 Take at Bedtime: Thalidomide causes significant sedation/drowsiness. Taking it at night helps you sleep and reduces daytime impairment.
- Take at least 1 hour after the evening meal.
- Do not break or chew the capsule.
🚫 BLACK BOX WARNING: TERATOGENICITY.
Thalidomide causes severe, life-threatening birth defects (phocomelia).
Strict Restrictions:
- Females: Must use two forms of reliable contraception and undergo regular pregnancy testing.
- Males: Must use latex condoms during sexual contact, as the drug is present in semen.
- Do not donate blood during treatment.
Key side effects to monitor:
- Peripheral Neuropathy: Numbness or tingling in fingers/toes. Can be permanent if treatment is not adjusted.
- Somnolence (Drowsiness): Do not drive or operate heavy machinery.
- Venous Thromboembolism: Risk of blood clots. Prophylactic anticoagulation is mandatory.
- Severe Constipation.
