Covirin (Ribavirin) Capsules

Indicated primarily for combination therapy in adults:

• 🦠 Chronic Hepatitis C (CHC): Used in combination with other agents for patients with difficult-to-treat profiles (e.g., cirrhosis or prior treatment failure).
• 🧪 Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers: May be used off-label for specific viral infections under strict medical supervision.

Packaging: 200 mg capsules.

⚠️ ADMINISTRATION PROTOCOL:

• ⚖️ Dose: Weight-based. Typically 1000 mg/day (< 75 kg) or 1200 mg/day (> 75 kg).
• 💊 Frequency: Divided into two daily doses (morning and evening).
• 🍔 With Food: Must be taken with food to ensure proper absorption. Do not crush or chew.
• 📅 Duration: Usually 12 to 24 weeks, depending on the genotype and combination used.

• 🤰 PREGNANCY: Absolute contraindication (Category X). Causes severe birth defects. Applicable to both women and men partners of pregnant women.
• Severe cardiac disease (e.g., unstable angina).
• Hemoglobinopathies (e.g., thalassemia, sickle-cell anemia).
• Severe renal impairment (Creatinine clearance < 50 mL/min).
• Autoimmune hepatitis.
