Lenvakast — Lenvatinib 10 mg
Lenvakast 10 mg is the highest strength capsule of Lenvatinib available.
Manufacturer: Aprazer Healthcare (India). Generic version of Lenvima.
Purpose of 10 mg Strength:
This dosage form is essential for patients requiring high daily doses (e.g., 24 mg or 18 mg). It simplifies the regimen by reducing the total number of capsules a patient needs to swallow daily compared to using only 4 mg capsules.
✅ Patient Compliance: Easier administration for thyroid and kidney cancer protocols.
Indicated for:
- Differentiated Thyroid Cancer (DTC): Radioiodine-refractory. Standard starting dose is 24 mg.
- Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC): Advanced kidney cancer (in combination with Everolimus). Standard dose is 18 mg.
- Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC): First-line treatment for liver cancer (if weight ≥ 60 kg).
Strength: 10 mg per capsule.
Combination Examples:
- For 24 mg dose: Take two 10 mg capsules + one 4 mg capsule daily.
- For 20 mg dose: Take two 10 mg capsules daily.
- For 18 mg dose: Take one 10 mg capsule + two 4 mg capsules daily.
⚠️ Administration: Take once daily at the same time. Swallow whole with water. Do not crush, dissolve, or open.
- Severe uncontrolled Hypertension.
- Severe hepatic impairment.
- Active bleeding or history of gastrointestinal perforation/fistula.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Adverse reactions are common and may require dose interruption/reduction:
- Hypertension: High blood pressure is very frequent. Daily monitoring is advised.
- Proteinuria: Protein in urine.
- Fatigue, Diarrhea, Decreased Appetite.
- Palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia syndrome (Hand-foot syndrome).
