Sutekast (Sunitinib) 50 mg Capsules (28 Count)
Sutekast 50 mg is a targeted cancer therapy containing Sunitinib Malate.
Manufacturer: Aprazer Healthcare (India). It is a cost-effective generic version of Sutent.
How it works:
Sunitinib inhibits multiple receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) that are implicated in tumor growth and angiogenesis (blood vessel formation). By blocking these pathways, it starves the tumor and halts cancer progression.
โ Key Benefit: It is the first-line standard of care for metastatic renal cell carcinoma.
Indicated for the treatment of:
- Advanced Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC): Kidney cancer.
- Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST): After disease progression on or intolerance to Imatinib.
- Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (pNET).
Strength: 50 mg capsule.
Standard Schedule "4/2" (for RCC & GIST):
- ๐ 4 Weeks ON: Take one 50 mg capsule daily.
- ๐ 2 Weeks OFF: No medication (rest period).
Repeat this 6-week cycle.
โ ๏ธ Instructions:
- Can be taken with or without food.
- Do not crush or open the capsule (contents are yellow and staining).
- Avoid Grapefruit and St. John's Wort.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding (Category D).
- Severe bleeding disorders.
- Severe cardiac arrhythmias (QT prolongation).
- Uncontrolled hypertension.
Patients should be aware of unique side effects:
- ๐ก Yellow Discoloration: Skin and possibly hair may turn yellowish due to the active ingredient's color. This is reversible.
- Hand-Foot Syndrome: Pain, swelling, and blisters on palms and soles.
- Stomatitis: Mouth sores or altered taste.
- Hypertension and Fatigue.
