Daunotec (Daunorubicin) 20 mg
Daunotec is a potent anthracycline antibiotic used in chemotherapy. Active ingredient: Daunorubicin (20 mg).

Daunotec acts specifically during the S-phase of cell division. It is widely known for its bright red color and is a cornerstone in the treatment of acute leukemias.
✅ Usage: Typically used in combination regimens (e.g., with Cytarabine).
Indicated for remission induction in:
- Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML): In adults (often part of the "7+3" regimen).
- Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL): In both children and adults.
⚠️ STRICTLY Intravenous (IV) Administration Only! Extravasation (leakage under skin) causes severe tissue necrosis.
Administration Rules:
- 💉 Administer into the tubing of a rapidly flowing IV infusion of saline.
- Dose is calculated based on Body Surface Area (mg/m²).
Cumulative Dose Limit: The total lifetime dose should not exceed 550 mg/m² to prevent irreversible heart damage (cardiomyopathy).
- Hypersensitivity to daunorubicin.
- Cardiac Disease: Heart failure, recent myocardial infarction, severe arrhythmias.
- Severe myelosuppression prior to treatment.
- Pregnancy (Teratogenic effects).
Common adverse reactions include:
- 🔴 Red Urine: Transient reddish discoloration of urine for 1-2 days (harmless).
- Cardiotoxicity: Arrhythmias or congestive heart failure (ECG monitoring required).
- Alopecia: Complete hair loss (reversible).
- Bone Marrow Suppression: Risk of infection and bleeding.
